Humor: The Hungry Games

December 13, 2012

As I write this, I am so hungry that I seriously feel like throwing myself through this library window straight into the pizza parlor next door…ugh. The hanger is getting the best of me! Wintertime is rough with cravings of heavy, fatty foods and the desire to hibernate but I shall persevere. If you’re like me and would like some tips on how to deal with winter food cravings (especially for carbohydrates, which is often directly correlated to Seasonal Affective Disorder–believe me, it’s for real!), then check out this article “Craving Carbs in Winter: Is it Depression?” or about vitamins you can take to curb your hunger. I won’t let this hunger get the best of me! I will go and have a healthy snack soon and all will be right in the world…or something like that. I will win this Hunger Game!

Speaking of, I’ve been wanting to post something more light-hearted recently and, after watching Jennifer Lawrence (who, though a brilliant and beautiful young woman, has faced endless scrutiny by the media about her weight) “Winter’s Bone” (which was an absolutely incredible, although extremely dark and depressing, film) I thought I would post a parody made by a sketch comedy group about the actual “Hunger Games” “The Hungry Games” that I quite enjoyed (click on the link, as it will not embed…).

I also have discovered (I haven’t started reading the books yet, but have been interested in starting…as soon as I finish the 10 other books I’m trying to get done with) a cooking show completely based on references in the Hunger Games!

Yum. Literature and food…I love when they go hand in hand!

Good luck to all with your own hunger games this winter. Feel free to discuss any winter food related issues/suggestions you’ve found in the comments section!

“Hungry Games” is hilarious!! Also, just having returned from an all you can eat Brazilian pizza restaurant, I think the “winter carb craving” phenomenon might be legitimate.

I did a post on the Hunger Games when it came out. Before I saw it I thought it was about a bunch of hungry people. Boy was I wrong!
